IL MOSTRO - ARTIST RESEARCH


This piece of work, titled, 'The Primavera after Botticelli', is a great place to start. Created back in 1995 by Il Mostro, he is one of the first to ever make art in this way. It was his custom to arrange his subjects like a beautiful painting.

In this particular piece, he arranged the bodies, garlanded with flowers - exactly like a Botticelli. The original Primavera is a large panel painting by the Italian Renaissance painter, Sandro Botticelli, made in the late 1470s or early 1480s. In Il Mostro's installation, he perfectly recreated the two characters on the right... the garlanded nymph on the right, flowers streaming from her mouth...
